Land Acknowledgement
Wedding and Event Vendor Alliance acknowledges that we live, work and host events on the unceded traditional lands of the Abenaki Nation, a tribe of the Wabanaki Confederacy that includes the Elnu Abenaki in Southern Vermont, the Nulhegan-Memphramagog Band of the Coosuk in the Northeast Kingdom, the Abenaki Missisquoi of Swanton, & the Koasek Abenaki of the Ndakinna territory of Vermont.
We commit to policies and practices of cultural equity to benefit current and future generations. We cannot share the stories of Vermont and Vermonters without acknowledging this land was stewarded by the Abenaki people for thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans.
The tradition of land acknowledgements began in Canada and is now used by many cultural organizations across North America. To learn more about the importance of land acknowledgements, please visit www.landacknowledgements.org.

As socially responsible businesses, we take this opportunity to commit ourselves to the struggle against the systems of oppression that dispossessed indigenous people of their lands & denied their rights to self-determination, work that is essential to human rights & equity across the world. Please join us in acknowledging the Abenaki community, their elders both past & present, as well as their future generations.
